what is the truth about the gas price rises?

i am getting so bored with the media "shock" and "panic" driving stories about gas prices.
so one company puts its prices up, and we should switch. but this isnt like going to tescos instead of asda as this week the price is lower. this is a short term contract at the very least.

why hasnt the media published a simple table showing what the average user would pay (and i dont mean against one of their tariff rates but their different ones) so we can actually see what the difference is.

its meaningless to keep saying british gas is up 22% and someone else is up 15% when we dont know how long the difference lasts or how big it is over a period of time.

i suspect the media hasnt done so as the truth isnt as interesting as the headlines?
